Zoe Cadman and Michelle Yu Hanson to Host TCA’s Bash at the Breeders’ Cup Fundraiser

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Zoe Cadman and Michelle Yu Hanson will host Thoroughbred Charities of America’s Bash at the Breeders’ Cup presented by Churchill Downs Incorporated on Friday, November 1 at the Del Mar Hilton in Del Mar, Cal. The Del Mar Hilton is located directly across from the Del Mar Racecourse.  The evening will offer savory bites, handcrafted cocktails, live music by Haute Chile, and an opportunity to bid on extraordinary items all in support of TCA. Tickets are available here.

Zoe Cadman is host and analyst for XBTV, Santa Anita Park and 1/ST Racing. Born in South Africa and raised in England, Zoe came to America and worked for trainers Michael Dickinson, Christopher Speckert and Mike Stidham prior to taking out her jockey’s license in 2000. She became the first female rider in Chicago history to win a meet riding title when she won the spring 2001 Hawthorne title. In 2008, Zoe relocated to Santa Anita to work with HRTV until 2015, when she began her current broadcast role with XBTV, Santa Anita Park and 1/ST Racing.

Michelle Yu Hanson is a member of the award-winning Santa Anita Park simulcast team where she is a host and analyst.  An avid horsewoman from a young age, Yu’s first foray onto the backside was as a hotwalker before moving onto TV production. After nearly two decades in the industry, her resume includes NBC, FOX, Breeders’ Cup, HRTV, TVG, and various international shows. She also is a CBS Sportsline contributor and hosts a weekly podcast called The Owners Box.

“After an exciting day at Breeders’ Cup, come support TCA at Bash at the Breeders’ Cup,” said Erin Halliwell executive director of TCA. “Bash has become a significant fundraiser for us, helping to provide a broad range of support to approved charities offering Thoroughbred aftercare, health and human services to backstretch and farm workers, equine-assisted therapies, and Thoroughbred incentive programs. Our work wouldn’t be possible without the support of our donors.”

Bash at the Breeders’ Cup will feature a live auction including a Del Mar Racing package, a halter worn by Thorpedo Anna, a racing saddle signed by numerous jockeys, a box at the Whitney Stakes in Saratoga, a box at the Blue Grass Stakes with weekend accommodations, 2025 Breeders’ Cup tickets, a custom-made amethyst pendant and more. For those that cannot attend in-person, telephone bidding will be available. Please email Erin Halliwell at ehalliwell@tca.org to bid by phone. Auction items may be previewed here.

Bash at the Breeders’ Cup is generously presented by Churchill Downs Incorporated. Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) was formed in 1990 to raise and distribute funds to charities in the Thoroughbred industry that provide a better life for Thoroughbreds, both during and after their racing careers, by supporting qualified repurposing and retirement organizations and by helping the people who care for them. This year, TCA granted over $1 million to 86 approved charities working within Thoroughbred retraining, rehoming and retirement; backstretch and farm worker services, research and equine-assisted therapy. During the last three decades, TCA has granted over $27 million to more than 200 charities that successfully meet the criteria set forth in its annual grant application. TCA administers the Horses First Fund, founded by LNJ Foxwoods in 2016, to assist Thoroughbreds in need of emergency aid. TCA manages Cómo, a mobile app founded by Godolphin, that connects racing industry employees to the vital services they need through a network of racetrack chaplains and Thoroughbred industry organizations. TCA is the charitable arm of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA).
