Thoroughbred Charities of America grantee, Blue Grass Farms Charities (BGFC) is making a difference for the horsemen of Central Kentucky. Since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic, food has been the number one requested need by horsemen. BGFC’s Food Distribution Manager Bob Baney makes weekly visits to area farms, racetracks and training facilities to distribute groceries and other needed items and to talk with the employees about their current or upcoming needs and challenges.
Thanks to Bob’s determination to meet the horsemen’s food needs, BGFC’s food distribution has doubled, as Bob has delivered more than 30,000 pounds of food to more than 1,500 people. Working in partnership with God’s Pantry, which works to reduce hunger throughout Kentucky communities, Bob visits Lexington grocery stores such as Kroger, Super Mercado, Starbucks and the God’s Pantry Distribution Center to bring fresh deli items, breads, fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy products to horsemen and their families. TCA is proud to support BGFC’s mission to provide heath and human services to those working in the Central Kentucky Thoroughbred industry.
